Swiss company to build aerial ropeway in Armenia

YEREVAN, October 12.Switzerland’s company Garaventa AG, which is a part of Doppelmayr Garaventa Group, will build an aerial ropeway in Khndzoresk village, Armenia, the press office of the Armenian economic development and investments ministry, reported on Thursday.

The initial stage of the project is estimated to cost more than $6.1 million.

An appropriate agreement has been signed between Armenia’s Armhydroenergoprogect Institute and the Swiss company.

Suren Karayan, Armenian economic development and investments minister, stressing the importance of the agreement, said that the project will be implemented as part of development of attractiveness of Armenia’s Syunik province for tourists.

The longest in the world reverse passenger ropeway Wings of Tatev, which was built in 2010 as part of IDeA Foundation’s project “Tatev Revival”, is already operating in Armenia.

This 5.7-kilometer ropeway not only has hit length high, but it has been built in record-breaking time – 10 months.
