To conduct Technical Feasibility of Installation of Material Ropeway from Sangaygang to Phajoding, Thimpu

This Detailed Feasibility Survey of Material Transportation Ropeway from Sangaygang to Phajoding, Thimpu has been prepared and submitted by Ropeway Nepal (P) Ltd. Jwagal, Lalitpur, Nepal in association with M-Tec (Italy) and Ropes (Italy) as per the requirement for the BID Submission for “Supply of ropeway for transportation of construction materials from Sangaygang to Phajoding, Thimpu” by Phajoding Monastery Conservation Project, Department of Culture, RGoB.

This Final report on Feasibility Study of Material Transportation Ropeway from Sangay-gang to Phajoding, Thimpu has been prepared and submitted by Ropeway Nepal (P) Ltd. Jwagal, Lalitpur, Nepal in association with M-Tec (Italy) and Ropes (Italy) as per the requirement for the BID Submission for “Supply of ropeway for transportation of construction materials from Sangay-gang to Phajoding, Thimpu” by Phajoding Monastery Conservation Project, Department of Culture, RGoB.

The studied project site is located in sangay-gang 7.9 Km far away from Thimpu, the capital city of bhutan. where the lower station is at Sangay-gang and upper station is at Phajoding of the proposed ropeway. Phajoding is 4.8 Km from Sangay-gang , where the proposed upper station lies. Phajoding Monastery is the main attraction of uppers station, which is one the popular historical landmarks in Bhutan, lies in the vicinity of Phajoding.

Phajoding Monastery, which is a 3-hour hike from the nearest road, is located above Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. It was once one of the richest and most decorated monasteries in the country however due to years of neglect and the encroachment of development, it was watch listed in 2010 by the World Monuments Funded as one of five endangered cultural monuments that need most help in the world. It is home to many very sacred Buddhist artifacts. Phajoding takes its name from the saint Phajo Drugom Zhigpo, who meditated there in the 13th century and is considered to be one of the most sacred meditational sites in Bhutan. The monastery itself is an open complex that comprises many holy buildings and relics and a State monastic school that currently houses just over 50 monks.
